Time Off

Been at work more than anywhere lately. 8 to 6 sometimes up to 12 hours, 6 days a week (even on some sundays). I missed some time off, in need for a TIME OFF.

Few days ago my sister informed me that she will be travelling solo to the Ankor Wat by end of the month and asked if I bother to join. Well, of course I want to go, Ankor is one of the place I supposed to go this year (missed the March trip with the Kaibingan), but my Annual Leave balance this year is already ZERO. What a loss.

So time off would be going back to Ranau on weekend. Yes, this weekend. Thanks to the Malaysia's many public holidays our weekend extended to monday this week.

Where ure going this weekend?

Lunchbox

Determined to watch my food intake, I resolves to bring lunchbox to workplace. Its been 2 days now, and it makes me happy knowing I wont eat too much and whats more, it saves my wallet like, a lot!

Now, you might be wondering what type of food do I put inside that food container. Well, white rice and ikan bilis goreng! I should be putting some vegetable or fruits, but its not easy for me to wake up early in the morning. Maybe I should pack earlier at night and do more food variety in the future.

P/s: Boii, apa anda makan ni hari?

LEAVE application

Today is the fourth time i sent and The Boss finally signed my leave application which I recieved with the most delight.

"wahh, tenkiu very2 much bosskuu" (feeling like jumping itu masa)
he replied "ko jangan cakap tenkiu dulu, see the back of the paper"

turns out, its a full page of to-do-list before and while i am out. But its a deal and a good one. And this really made my day.

Now, baru lah I can read all the emails sent by the kaibingans. Baru lah I could plan and this makes me rasa gumbira!!

pray, nothing will go wrong and we could enjoy this vacation to the fullest.

The Piliks

My cousin uploaded our old picture in the FB today. Was taken between 1996 or 1997 with our beloved grandpa and grandma (they passed away later that year).

The picture brings back many childhood memories. And I couldnt help but to smile and drifting back to the old good days, when nothing really matters as long as the stomach is full.

All the Piliks united (except for Lisa who was born later in the new millenium).

Gayang

We had our 'little' feast last month.

The four of us. (from left: Sera, Mel, me and Jess). All anxiously waiting for the food. Was so hungry that day, went twice to the site.

The feast! 7 dishes at their best.

and, the clean plates.

Mel said "tu urang di tepi kita tinguk2 kita dari tadi. Mengkali dorang heran kita 4 urang bulih kasi habis ni makanan". Hehe, we chuckled and continue eating.

It all cost us Rm200 and a few kilos addition to the "lemak tepu" around the waist. But if you are seafood lover, you might want to visit the place - Gayang Restaurant.

We went home that night soo full, I'd burst with a single poke.

Sunset

I asked one of the mandur the other day why he do not bother to use umbrella under the frying sun, he replied in his heavy hakka slang "bukan tidak mau pakai, tapi itu saya punya olang pun olang juga, jadi sama-sama panas lah". This kind of leadership never fail to gain the respect.

Sunset seen through my window.

The Bosses

While doing a site inspection last week, i had this conversation with a fellow worker. He is an Indonesian mandur from Java. And his slang makes me miss Bandung!

I called him bapak, which he said inappropriate becouse the title bapak should only be used for managers and people who works at the bank. That makes me think on how inappropriate Sabahan usage of 'Boss'. All are bosses, from the road sweeper to the managers behind desks. At some part of the land they even calls their husband boss. It's so common you will hear us calling "boss" for the bill at mamak stall.

It may be a discrepancy on the language, but it's a sign of equality or we are just too lazy remembering each others name. So, I called Munir boss from that day onwards.

this a spacer ring. kinda love this pix.

Organisation Chart

Last week a colleague post this pix on our office's information board. With the title of "The site latest revised organisation chart".

It was hillariously funny when each passing colleagues wrote on the pix (it's a waste I didnt capture the discussion stamped on the pix), however it goes something like this.

1. they named the birds, the 1 at the top as our senior project manager, second tier are our project managers. the 3rd tier written 'kita semua'
2. some of the colleagues put their name on the 4th tier and wrote "I may be burdened with shit, but when I looked up, I saw A$$HOLEs"
3. some even feels they belong to the 5th tier, covered by shitty, only eyes still blinking. so drawn.
4. our project manager saw this and wrote near his name 'this cant be me, coz the bird didnt smile'
5. so using marker pen they painted him smiling
6. then he wrote again 'now, it might be me. lucky I miss the shit'
7. an hour later the bird was covered with poos.

all this happened between laughs. it really made our week. then on the latest site meeting the senior project manager (who never laugh on this) scolded us and demanded the pix to be taken out, said it is demoralizing the staffs.

Motivated

During our daily morning discussion today the Construction Manager said something that really motivates me. "kamu karaja sini, I hope lepas 2 tahun sudah macam graduated, boleh independent".

Now you see, the words are as simple as that. But the words really pinned the point why I am here. Why I quit the comfy of the previous work. Its hard, its still are, but knowing and reminded on the purpose, I am staying.

Avoid negative people, they really can kill your self confidence and self esteem.

The discovery of the year

Was talking to my sister on the phone the other day, while packing home. Then suddenly it appeared to me that I lost my phone, OMG I lost my only phone! I started to look for it, checking under the desk, checking my pockets, I even went out to the admin area, and all the while still talking to my sister.

me: I am looking for my phone, natagak handpon ku (I lost my phone)
sister: what??!! you're looking for your phone??
(irritated by her not really helping voice, while feared I might had dropped the phone at KFC during lunch)
me: nevermind, tolipunan ku kawagu ika taanu (I will call you back later)
sister: oo..bah (OK)

then walla! the 'lost' phone appeared.
Later on I called my sister back, and in between laughs she said 'the discovery of the year!'. On the way back I went hunting for cheese cake, for I need to recharge.

Note: the words in itallic are Dusun
